Trek 6 – Trek placeholder/download title
Overview
A shimmering jewel on the Shannon, Loch Allen has a shoreline dotted with many interesting harbours and coves. This beautiful water nestles between the Sliabh an Iarainn and Arigna ranges and offers up so many mountain vistas from the water. Why not cycle to the Shannon Blueway trail head at Lough Allen and continue your exploration of the lake by Canadian canoe. Discover an abundance of wildlife and natural habitats; learn about Pollan, a fresh water species of the salmon family and a relic from the last ice age. Many islands dot the lake including Drummans, Corry and Church Island. Relax and savour a picnic lunch of locally produced artisan foods at one of its harbours on the lake as you watch sail boats and windsurfers traverse the lake.
